Ed Van Impe

Ed Van Impe played 8 1/2 seasons (1967-1976) on Defense with the Flyers. Ed served as the Flyers 2nd Captain in team history (1968-1973). He was a 3x NHL All-Star and a member of both Flyers Stanley Cup teams. Van Impe is most remembered for his hit in the Flyers 1976 game at the Spectrum against the Soviet Army in which he hit Valeri Kharlamov so hard that it knocked him unconscious. This resulted in the Soviets leaving the ice. In 1993, Ed was inducted into the Philadelphia Flyer Hall of Fame.
