Ed Snider

Upon learning that the NHL was expanding, Ed Snider made plans to build a new arena; the SPECTRUM. On February 8, 1966, Philadelphia was awarded a hockey team which would turn out to be the Philadelphia Flyers. He started Spectacor as a holding company for the Flyers and the Spectrum. In 2005, he created the Snider Hockey Foundation to provide inner-city children the opportunity to learn and play hockey. In 1988, Mr. Snider was inducted into the Hockey Hall of Fame, 1997 inducted into the Philadelphia Jewish HoF, 2005 Philadelphia Sports HoF and 2011 to the US Hockey HoF.
