Doug Favell
Doug Favell was the first goalie in the NHL to paint his mask. He was selected 9th overall by the Philadelphia Flyers in the 1967 Expansion Draft and went on to play 6 seasons with the team (1967-73). Doug was the goaltender for the 1st ever Flyers victory (vs Blues) and the teams first victory in the Spectrum (vs Penguins). In his first season with the Flyers he split time with Bernie Parent and helped lead the Flyers to a first place finish in the NHL's Western Division. When Parent was traded in 1971, Favell became the Flyers' workhorse goalie. He also played professional lacrosse for the Philadelphia Wings.
